Question: If a driver has a valid medical certificate is he/she prohibited from operating a CMV if a medical condition has developed since the current medical certificate was issued?
Answer: Yes. Even if the driver has a current medical certificate, the driver is prohibited from driving a CMV with any medical condition that would be disqualifying... Once a disqualifying medical condition is resolved, and before resuming operation of CMVs, a driver is responsible for obtaining re-certification from a Medical Examiner.
Question: What are the PROPOSED Hours-of-Service rules?
Answer: "Off Duty" period:10 consecutive hours (same as now); Maximum "On Duty" time within driving window:13 hours; Maximum driving time within driving window: 10 or 11 hours (both being considered); Limit on consecutive hours of driving: May drive only if has been 7 hours or less since "Off Duty" period of at least 30 minutes; Maximum "On Duty" hours: 60 hours in 7 days / 70 hours in 8 days (same as now); Limits on 34 hour restart: a) Must include 2 periods between midnight & 6am b) May only be used once per week.
